Someone once told me, “when you pray, pray from your place of victory. You are not standing in defeat, trying to get to victory, you are standing in the victory that Jesus purchased for you and praying from it.” That rocked my world and it sounded great, but if you are like me, most of the time in life it doesn’t feel like we are standing in a place of victory. Especially considering all that life throws at us. We often feel like we are standing alone from a place of defeat. But Romans 8 tells us that what that woman told me was the truth. We have a new standing, a position “in Christ Jesus.” Because he lived on this earth, died for us, and was raised from death, we as believers can expect victory over everything. There is no condemnation for us! When we come to faith in Christ, we have been adopted and received the Holy Spirit; and that Spirit produces life. So, we have been set free—it has been accomplished—we do not have to strive to get freedom, but rather stand in the freedom that has been given to us!
