God’s called us to love Him above everything else. In fact, in Matthew 6:24 it says that it’s impossible to serve 2 masters. That’s why giving is such a powerful expression of our worship to God. It’s not that He needs your money, but rather we have the chance each week to practice putting Him FIRST in our life. Our giving of our tithe, or the first 10% of our income, expresses to the Lord that HE is our ultimate provider.
